The return of the XFL was exciting for many NFL fans, as it gives them an outlet for football during the offseason.
Led by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the XFL has looked to entertain, while providing an avenue for athletes to compete in a different league atmosphere.
Johnson recently made a plea to Travis Kelce, petitioning him to one day join the XFL.
Uncle Wade and my guy @tkelce 💪🏾
I’d love to see Trav in the XFL.
He’d tell me to “Know your role jabroni” cos I can’t afford him 🤣👊🏾Love seeing these two together @XFL2023 @Chiefs @XFLRoughnecks https://t.co/4SWJ3iAbFe—Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) April 19, 2023
This came on the heels of a photo that emerged from Kelce and Wade Philips, an XFL coach.
Kelce responded to Johnson’s comments, but it doesn’t appear that he is ready to give up on the NFL quite yet.
You know I play for the love of the game baby!! 😂👊🏻 I had to stop by and tell my guy Coach Phillips good luck in the playoffs!! Love tuning in to the @XFL2023 🔥🔥 @TheRock 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Kelce has been tuning in to the XFL, given his comments about the playoffs, and that he enjoys watching the league.
Is the XFL something that Kelce would consider, post-NFL?
The XFL has a much smaller reach and fanbase than the NFL.
Kelce is a major star within the league and could have a difficult time transitioning to a smaller, less active XFL base.
However, a player of Kelce’s caliber might be just the thing that the XFL needs, adding a star into their rotation of players.
He is currently 33 years old and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to the 2023 season, hoping to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Even if he would consider the XFL at some point, that is likely several years down the line.
Kelce is chasing several tight-end records, including those of his mentor, Shannon Sharpe.
