Derek Carr is visiting with the New Orleans Saints this week.
This, of course, came after his request to move on from the Las Vegas Raiders, a team that he has spent his entire career with.
The Saints are a destination that makes sense for Carr, especially in consideration of the young weapons that will be at his disposal.
After this news was revealed, many Saints fans expressed their opinion on the situation.
One question about Derek Carr is whether he’d actually move the needle for the Saints over an Andy Dalton.
One thing that is pretty clear: Carr is not the most mobile of dudes, but he’s still worlds better than 35/36-year-old Dalton in that regard.

Andy Dalton was the quarterback for the Saints last season.
If they move on from him in favor of Carr, here’s what they would be gaining.
In 2022, Carr rushed for an astonishing 102 yards, in comparison to Dalton’s 54.
While 102 rushing yards doesn’t even put Carr in the top 25 of quarterback rushing yards in 2022, it’s a marked improvement from Dalton’s numbers.
Carr at least presents some upside in the pocket, while Dalton is a bit more stationary.
Besides his rushing totals, Carr is a clear upgrade in the passing game as well.
Last season, Carr threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
While Dalton threw just nine interceptions, he only threw for 2,871 yards and 18 touchdowns.
In total, it appears that Carr is an upgrade in nearly every statistical category over Dalton.
However, many Saints fans are hesitant to fully embrace Carr, mostly due to the massive contract that he is owed.
The Saints haven’t been able to figure out their quarterback situation since Drew Brees retired, but will hopefully remedy that in 2023, either with Carr or another new addition to their team.
