After an injury-riddled 10-7 season in which they blew a 27-0 lead and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card playoff round, the Los Angeles Chargers have multiple needs.
The one that many fans and pundits have centered around is on defense, an area in which they finished 20th in total yards given up and 21st in points allowed, and to that end, they acquired inside linebacker Eric Kendricks, a 2019 Pro Bowl and All -Pro first-team selection.
But their offense also needs lots of help, as many have criticized them for not playing a vertical game and taking advantage of the bionic rocket-launcher quarterback Justin Herbert seems to have as a throwing arm.
Los Angeles’ highest draft pick in the 2023 draft will be at No. 21, and Mina Kimes feels the team needs to nab a speed threat at wide receiver.

For the last few years, wideouts Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have been standout threats for the Chargers, as has dual-threat running back Austin Ekeler.
But none of them are particularly fleet-footed, and with a solid offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore now in the building, they need to equip their offense with someone who can fly down the field and has a good pair of hands.
Such a wideout could also help make life easier for Allen, Williams, and Ekeler by making defensive backs account for him and diversifying LA’s offense.
The team didn’t throw the ball further than 10-15 yards downfield much last season, and it was a bone of contention for many fans, but changing that will require someone who is a reliable threat deep downfield.
