The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to move forward without legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady took some people by surprise when he announced his retirement, as the Bucs are left searching for a new quarterback.
Tampa Bay looked into a free agency for their next quarterback.
It appears that they will head into 2023 with Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback.
Many Buccaneers fans may not be thrilled with Mayfield as their starter, especially with what he has shown in recent years.
But, at worst he is a veteran player that can help the Bucs compete in the NFC South.
Mayfield recognizes that he has been tasked with the job of replacing Brady.
He also knows he will never be able to match what the GOAT has done in his career.
He said as much when speaking to the media Monday.

One thing going for Mayfield is that he will get some great players to work with this season.
He can throw the ball to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Russell Gage.
Many thought that the Bucs would give the starting job to Kyle Trask this year.
But it appears as if it will be Mayfield’s job for the taking.
This may be Mayfield’s last chance to prove he can be an NFL starter.
If he can get the Bucs back to the playoffs, that would be a major win for him.
