After falling short in the NFC Championship Game to the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers have made some additions in the hopes that they will finally win their sixth Super Bowl next season.
They made a big splash by snagging standout defensive tackle Javon Hargrave from the Eagles, and they also brought in backup quarterback Sam Darnold, cornerback Isaiah Oliver, and defensive end Clelin Ferrell.
The team’s official Twitter account showed their newest additions making their way to the team facilities.

Hargrave’s signing turned some heads, as he was one of the very best free agents available this offseason.
Although the 49ers had the NFL’s best defense this past season, their defensive tackles were somewhat lackluster, and Hargrave will help shut down their opponents’ running game while giving them another pass-rushing threat.
The 30-year-old had perhaps the best season of his career in 2022, posting 11.0 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss, although he failed to be named to the Pro Bowl.
Darnold will give San Francisco a backup signal-caller with experience while providing them with a third QB should they suffer another gnarly rash of injuries like this past season.
Oliver registered seven passes defended and three tackles for losses in 12 games and four starts for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022, while Ferrell had 2.0 sacks and eight QB hits for the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 49ers have lost several members of their front seven, as well as defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, but it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they once again boast the game’s most savage defense in 2023.
