One Los Angeles Chargers player is making noise at the start of “legal tampering” in the NFL.

All free agents are now allowed to speak with any team across the league.

But, no deals can become finalized until Wednesday.

Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is not a free agent, but he might be looking for a new team.

According to Adam Schefter, Ekeler has requested permission to speak to other teams about a trade.

This comes as a surprise to many since Ekeler has been one of the most productive running backs in the league.

But, entering the final year of his contract, he is hoping to find another big payday.

Ekeler is one of the rare running backs that might be a better pass-catcher than a runner.

He rushed for 915 yards last year, and 13 rushing touchdowns.

He also caught 107 passes for 722 yards and five touchdowns.

His skill set is very unique, and he should be highly sought after by running back-needy teams.

Teams may feel more comfortable paying Ekeler another big contract because he is unique.

His career-high in rushes is 206, which is far less than many other workhorse running backs.

Not having to take as many hits should keep Ekeler fresh longer than his counterparts.

Keep an eye on what teams may be interested in adding Ekeler.

He is one of the best offensive players in the NFL, and the Chargers should think long and hard about letting him leave.
