Lars Nootbaar is quietly becoming one of the most well-respected players in all of baseball.
His “grind the pepper” celebration after each hit has turned into a global phenomenon, with players such as Shohei Ohtani even catching onto it and enjoying it.
Nootbaar also plays elite defense in right field for the St. Louis Cardinals, who have found an everyday role for him.
But prior to leaving for the World Baseball Classic, Nootbaar recorded a session of “Noot News,” where he provided updates on certain Cardinals players and even got a chance to talk to backup catcher Andrew Knizner.
The Cardinals posted a clip of the session on their Twitter account on Monday.

Nootbaar’s “Noot News” session began with him updating fans on the lives of several of his teammates.
Tyler O’Neill and his wife welcomed a baby girl to their family over the winter.
He congratulated his teammate and joked that it ultimately serves as motivation for him to not be a father anytime soon.
Hall-of-Famer Ozzie Smith hits his first hole-in-one on the golf course over the winter as well.
Nootbaar even touched on Adam Wainwright’s budding country music career and revealed that Miles Mikolas had finally cut his hair
Finally, he spoke with Knizner, jokingly asking him about potentially playing third base with Nolan Arenado playing for Team USA.
After Nootbaar threw a little good-natured shade at Arenado for his defense, Knizner chimed in and stated that he was an All-American third baseman in college, and revealed that Arenado was not.
Nootbaar’s first news gig appears to be going well.
