Running back Ezekiel Elliott was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys, making him one of the more intriguing free agents currently available on the market.

Although he isn’t quite the force he used to be, he still seems to have a lot to offer to the team that ends up signing him for the 2023 season.

Reportedly, Elliott has a short wish list that consists of the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals.

Unfortunately for him, the defending NFC champions don’t seem to be interested in bringing him aboard.

The Eagles released Miles Sanders recently, and he ended up signing with the Carolina Panthers, leaving Philly without a man who ran for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl.

Thanks to him and quarterback Jalen Hurts, the team ranked fifth in rushing yards and first in rushing touchdowns during this past regular season.

One may think the Eagles should at least have some interest in Elliott, but a closer look at his stats shows a man who appears to be in decline.

His 876 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022 look like strong numbers, but he averaged just 3.8 yards per carry.

It comes in contrast to his first four seasons in which he surpassed 1,350 rushing yards and 4.5 yards per rush attempt three times.

Elliott took the NFL by storm during his rookie season in 2016 with a league-high 1,631 rushing yards, plus 15 touchdowns.

But with the emergence of Tony Pollard in 2022, the Cowboys felt Elliott was expendable and that it was time to make a transition at running back.
