The New York Jets have generational talent in their ranks.
Willow Gardner looks poised to be the best cornerback of his generation, and he’s only been in the league for one season.
That’s why even he would prefer people to put the brakes on him and all expectations.
When a post featuring him alongside Champ Bailey and Richard Sherman on the premise “start, bench, cut” went viral, Gardner took to Twitter to explain that there was no point in putting him alongside those two legends just yet, stating that the only logical answer would be to cut it.

That is as humble as it is logical.
Gardner’s career picked up a historic pace, being a top contender for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award while running with Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
His numbers were remarkable and the eyesight test made him look even more dominant.
But maybe we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves yet, since it’s only been around for a year.
Hopefully, Gardner won’t suffer career-altering injuries, off-field incidents or anything else, so he can reach his potential and be one of the greatest players of all time.
Still, anything can happen in this league, and countless things could go wrong for him and the Jets.
Plus, it’s nice to see that Gardner knows he hasn’t accomplished anything in the league yet, as that means he’s still going to be hungry and work hard to live up to expectations.
