The 2022 season has been horrible for quarterback Baker Mayfield.
While some thought his fresh start with the Carolina Panthers might help him, his ride with them is already ending in a disaster.
It took Mayfield five games before his coach put him on the bench.
While he had a second chance during week nine against the Cincinnati Bengals, his performance didn’t change things.
Now many are wondering, can Mayfield ever start again in the NFL?
Baker Mayfield Was A Bust In Cleveland Surrounded By Elite Players
Baker Mayfield had the best team around him when he was playing for the Cleveland Browns.
The team gave him two elite running backs and two elite receivers.
However, his numbers per game were comparable to his current teammate Sam Darnold.
During the Thursday night game against the Atlanta Falcons, Richard Sherman ripped into Mayfield and how he is a failure.

Sherman said how Mayfield made Odell Beckham Jr. look “average” and “washed” as a player.
While the other people on the panel weren’t feeling what Sherman said about Mayfield, they clearly aren’t understanding Sherman’s honest take.
He’s 100% on how everything in Cleveland was built for him to succeed.
However, he only had one successful season as a winning quarterback.
Despite the surrounding talent, he never posted outstanding numbers.
With a pool of lesser talent in Carolina, his 2022 season shows how he can’t perform well when he doesn’t have elite players around him.
Because of this, and the Panthers having a draft pick on the line based on Mayfield’s snaps played, he won’t be a starting quarterback ever again.
