On Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins made a couple of deals that they feel will put them over the top and allow them to contend for a Super Bowl championship this winter.
First, they traded a fifth-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft to the San Francisco 49ers for running back Jeff Wilson, a move that will reunite him with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who was the 49ers’ offensive coordinator last year.
Miami also sent running back Chase Edmonds, a first-round pick in 2023, and a fourth-round pick in 2024 to the Denver Broncos for outside linebacker Bradley Chubb.
Chubb will be a free agent after the end of this season, but the Dolphins are reportedly going to offer him a new contract to keep him in South Florida.

Is This Deal Worth It?
At first glance, it seems like a lot to give up for a man who has been prone to injury during his four prior seasons in the NFL.
But when one looks at how poor the Dolphins’ pass defense has been this season, it appears to be a fair gamble at worst.
Chubb is actually having a strong year, as he has posted 5.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and eight quarterback hits through eight games.
At age 26, he should have plenty left in the tank to provide a relatively young Miami team past this season.
This is Bradley Chubb… and he is now a member of OUR Miami Dolphins. #FinsUp pic.twitter.com/whdQRSkgA2

The Dolphins rank just 20th in passing touchdowns allowed and 26th in passing yards allowed, as well as 22nd in points allowed, and those figures must improve if they want to make noise in the playoffs.
With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showing improvement in his third season, wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle having big seasons so far, and a star cornerback in Xavien Howard, Miami may finally have the pieces to fight for its first world championship in nearly 50 years.
