The Minnesota Vikings are coming off an impressive season in which Kirk Cousins and company lost only four games in the regular season and won the NFC North division title.
Despite the solid regular-season campaign for the Vikings, the end of the 2022 campaign was disappointing, with Minnesota falling short, losing to the New York Giants.
Although Cousins has been a formidable quarterback in Minnesota, the writing seems to be on the wall that he’s not the kind of leader that will lead the team to a Super Bowl win.
That said, the Vikings appear ready to start planning the future without Cousins under center by addressing the quarterback position in the NFL Draft.
According to Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the team would ideally like to start developing a quarterback behind Cousins via Pro Football Talk.

With the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft having four top-tier prospects in Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis, one of these four is unlikely to fall to No. 23, where the Vikings currently sit in the first round.
However, other prospects could pique the team’s interest in the upcoming draft, like Hendon Hooker out of Tennessee.
It’ll be interesting to see how serious the Vikings are about bringing in a young quarterback to be developed behind Cousins next season, as the team has other areas of need in what could be considered a win-now situation in Minnesota.
The NFC North is wide open right now with the Green Bay Packers on the verge of trading superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Detroit Lions potentially a year or two away from contention if head coach Dan Campbell can put it together.
