Although the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce is the best tight end in the NFL, he is not the highest paid.

Next season, George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers is expected to earn a few million dollars more than he does.

Kelce doesn’t seem to mind, though, saying his representatives love to tell him he’s underpaid, according to NFL on ESPN.

Kelce was simply a third-round pick in the 2013 draft, and after a decent but disappointing college career at the University of Cincinnati, he wasn’t exactly a candidate to become the best at his position in the NFL.

He appeared in just one game and put up no offensive numbers as a rookie, but in his second season, he began to show signs of things to come by recording 862 yards and five touchdowns.

Kelce earned his first Pro Bowl nomination in 2015, and has earned that honor every season since, along with four All-Pro First-Team selections.

Last season, he was forced to shoulder a bit of a bigger load after superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill was unexpectedly traded to the Miami Dolphins.

He responded by posting career-highs in receptions (110) and touchdowns (12) while also recording 1,338 receiving yards, which ranked eighth in the league.

Of course, Kelce also earned his second Super Bowl ring as the Chiefs overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and edged out the Philadelphia Eagles.

He had 81 yards and a touchdown in that contest to help his team’s cause.

Next season, Kelce will again have to shoulder a heavy workload after JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kansas City’s most productive wide receiver in 2022, left to join the New England Patriots.
