The New Orleans Saints are coming off a disappointing 2022 season that saw them finish 7-10 and miss the playoffs.

They had hope coming into the year, as they thought perhaps starting quarterback Jameis Winston would regain his old form.

But he was quickly benched in favor of veteran Andy Dalton, and the losses quickly piled up for New Orleans.

The team has made a couple of moves by restructuring the contracts of linebacker Demario Davis and tight end Taysom Hill in order to clear out a decent amount of salary cap space.

This could help the team possibly find a better solution under center for the 2023 season.

That solution could be veteran QB Derek Carr, who was recently released by the Las Vegas Raiders after a subpar year.

When the NFL Scouting Combine began days ago in Indianapolis, Carr was set to meet with a few teams, including the Saints, and he previously met with them a couple of weeks ago.

Although Carr had perhaps his worst season since his rookie year, perhaps a change of scenery will help him regain his old form, as not too long ago he made three straight Pro Bowls.

If the Saints snag a high-quality signal-caller, they should have a real shot at returning to the playoffs and winning the NFC South, which should be the weakest division in the league once again.

They have a stud running back in Alvin Kamara, as well as wide receiver Chris Olave, who was one of the top rookies in 2022 with 1,042 yards.
