After a dreadful 2022 campaign in which the Los Angeles Rams could not defend their Super Bowl title, Sean McVay and company are determined to bounce back in 2023 with a new-found sense of purpose.

Although the run game was an issue during the 2022 NFL season, the Rams might be a force to be reckoned with in that area next season, with the team embracing Cam Akers as their starting running back while also bringing in some veteran experience behind him.

According to Dov Kleiman, the Rams have brought back a familiar face for the 2023 campaign, with the team signing Sony Michel to presumably backup Akers in the backfield.

As a two-time Super Bowl winner, the Rams couldn’t have gotten a running back with more championship experience nor someone as familiar with McVay’s system as Michel.

Although he’s not the same back he used to be, Michel could still prove to be a valuable weapon in the running game for the Rams as they try to get back on track as a playoff contender in the NFC.

The team has committed to Akers as their lead back moving forward, which is interesting considering how things went last season, but Los Angeles should have a solid ground game to go with what could be a formidable passing game led by stars Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp .

Even though the Rams won’t have high expectations coming into the 2023 NFL season, Los Angeles might be able to make some noise if they can get some of that championship mojo back.
