As the post-Tom Brady era unfolds for the New England Patriots, the team is looking to find some consistency in terms of winning and overall production.

Their offense was anemic last season, as they ranked 17th in points scored and 26th in total yards gained.

Their ground game was particularly problematic, and on Monday, they waived running back James Robinson.

New England originally signed Robinson in March to a two-year contract just days after the New York Jets waived him.

The Jets had acquired him in a midseason trade last fall from the Tennessee Titans.

Robinson entered the league in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, and he had a promising rookie year, putting up 1,070 rushing yards, 344 receiving yards, and 10 overall touchdowns.

But he hasn’t been able to build on that excellent debut season.

In 2021, he had a decent 767 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, but last season, he managed only 425 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

In their backfield, the Patriots have Rhamondre Stevenson, who ran for 1,040 yards and five touchdowns in 2022, but he needs help, as No. 2 tailback Damien Harris, who had 929 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground in 2021, left to join the Buffalo Bills.

In the air, New England will have wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who comes from the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and posted 933 yards last season.

They’re also counting on some major improvement from quarterback Mac Jones, who was expected by some to have an outstanding 2022 after he made the Pro Bowl the year prior as a rookie.
