The Jacksonville Jaguars have been active in free agency in recent years.
Just last year we saw them sign Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram.
All of these played a big role in them making the playoffs and winning a playoff game.
Well, the Jaguars extended another player on Friday, but he is not so well known.
Quarterback CJ Beathard was given a two-year contract extension.
It’s a two-year deal for CJ Beathard, per source. Jacksonville keeping the QB room intact around Trevor Lawrence. https://t.co/zx4roxW63U

Although, it would be best for Jacksonville if he never sees the field next season.
Jacksonville must feel strongly about him being their backup after giving him this deal.
With Trevor Lawrence as the franchise quarterback, it seems that he and Beathard have a good relationship.
That is why bringing him back makes a ton of sense.
An experienced backup that Lawrence enjoys being around should pay dividends in the long run.
It will be interesting to see if the Jags are once again aggressive in free agency.
They could use some more impact players on both sides of the ball.
After this past season, they seem to be true contenders in the AFC.
No one expected the Jags to have as much success as they did this past season.
But, the development of Lawrence under head coach Doug Pederson has been exponential.
He should take another step forward next season.
It will be interesting to see what they look like in 2023.
But, anything short of another playoff trip would be a disappointment.
