It certainly is no secret that the St. Louis Cardinals have had more than their fair share of starting pitching issues.
The offense has been an issue as well.
But in the rotation, the team has two starters that have performed quite well.
Left-hander Jordan Montgomery and right-hander Jack Flaherty have both delivered some solid performances for the Cardinals this season.
Between the two, 39.2 innings have been completed and only two home runs have been allowed.
They have also combined for a 2.72 ERA and a 3-3 record.
Miles Mikolas, Jake Woodford, and Steven Matz, on the other hand, have combined for a record of 0-5, an ERA of 6.88, and 11 home runs allowed.
These starting pitching splits have to be concerning to the #STLCards:
Jack Flaherty & Jordan Montgomery: 39.2 IP, 3-3, 2.72 ERA, 2 HRs allowed.
Miles Mikolas, Jake Woodford & Steven Matz: 51 IP, 0-5, 6.88 ERA, 11 HRs allowed.
Montgomery (2-1) starts tonight vs. the #DBacks.

This is certainly something that the Cardinals are going to need to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
Starting pitching is the most glaring issue with the team.
Matz, Woodford, and Mikolas all pitched well in their previous starts, so hope is not lost.
But if the team plans on winning more games and getting themselves back into the postseason chase, they will need strong performances out of all of their starting pitchers.
The imminent return of Adam Wainwright should help the team.
The trade deadline also represents an opportunity for them to improve their rotation.
St. Louis has a plethora of talented outfielders fighting for playing time and could stand to clear out the logjam.
As of now, this trend is certainly concerning for the Cardinals.
While Montgomery and Flaherty have performed well, the rest of the rotation has been an issue.
