The Chicago Bears have an excellent opportunity to build their roster ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

They hold the number one overall pick in the draft, and, assuming he is healthy, Justin Fields should be in a great place for success.

Besides their draft situation, the Bears find themselves in a unique situation regarding their available cap space.

With a record of 3-14 during the 2022 regular season, the Bears were regarded as one of the worst teams in the league.

Their offense was in the bottom third in terms of overall points per game, and their defense allowed the most points per game as well.

Now, the Bears find themselves with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and nearly $100 million in projected cap space.

This is nearly double what the nearest franchise has at their disposal, and the Bears have an incredible opportunity to sign several franchise-altering players in the offseason.

One area that the Bears are in desperate need of help is wide receiver.

If Fields is expected to grow this season, he will need help to do so.

Last year, the Bears’ leading receivers, in terms of yards, were Cole Kmet, Darnell Mooney, and Equanimous St. Brown.

Kmet was their only receiver over 500 yards, and Mooney only played in 12 games.

Many have pointed to the Bears’ receiving corps as one of the more depleted units in the league.

The Bears offseason will be under immense scrutiny, given the amount of money they will be able to dole out.
