Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera already announced that the 2023 MLB season will be his last.
He started his journey as a 20-year-old kid with the Miami Marlins (then Florida Marlins) in 2003.
He is now ready to say goodbye after 21 campaigns at the highest level.
He has achieved everything there is to achieve: a World Series, MVP awards, batting crowns, a Triple Crown, 500 home runs, 600 doubles, 3,000 hits, and the love and respect of all baseball fans.
Houston Astros fans at Minute Maid Park recognized his excellent career with applause before the game on Wednesday.
In fact, the Astros, as an organization, had a gesture for Cabrera.
Manager Dusty Baker greeted him and gave him a hug, and then his fellow countrymen Jose Altuve and Luis Garcia – who play for the Astros – gifted him some wine and a cowboy hat.

It was a really cool moment.
Cabrera, with the big smile he always has for every situation, accepted the gifts and recognized the crowd in Houston.
As a member of the Tigers, Cabrera has had lots of hits and homers against the Astros throughout the years.
It’s nothing personal, though: he did it against virtually every team.
The damage could have been a lot worse considering what he did to other squads, though.
Much like fellow Latin American legend Albert Pujols, Cabrera is trying to have the best walk season he can have.
Regardless of what happens this year, Cabrera will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer six years from now.
He belongs in Cooperstown, and there might not be a voter who thinks otherwise.
