The Houston Texans have officially started the Will Anderson Jr. era, signing the star rookie to his first fully-guaranteed deal.

Aaron Wilson reported that the deal would be worth $35.21 million over four years with a fifth-year option.

The stellar rookie will get a $22.6 million signing bonus, and he’s expected to make an immediate impact on DeMeco Ryans’ team.

The Texans had the fifth-worst defense in the league last season, allowing a whopping 379.5 yards of offense and 24.7 points per game.

Needless to say, they’ve gone to great lengths to solve those issues in the offseason, even trading up with the Arizona Cardinals to snatch the Alabama Crimson Tide star prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There’s no doubt that the edge rusher will be a starter right out of the gate for the team.

He’s coming off an elite season in college, logging 51 tackles (17 tackles for loss) and ten sacks for Nick Saban’s team, and that’s despite being mostly doubled-team after an even more impressive season in 2021.

Anderson has all the physical tools to become a generational defender at the next level, and the Texans will do whatever they can to put him in the best position possible.

This team was in desperate need of a culture turnaround and they’ve done a solid job of bringing in some veterans to help the young guys develop winning habits.

And with CJ Stroud leading the way on offense and Anderson anchoring their defense for years to come, the future finally seems bright in Houston.
