Patrick Mahomes has now ascended to a higher plateau after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

It was Mahomes’ second world championship in four years, and it has led many to wonder if the Chiefs could be a dynasty in progress.

What made their win on Sunday even more impressive was the fact that Mahomes was gutting it out on a sprained ankle he had suffered in the divisional round against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In fact, Mahomes appeared to aggravate the injury just before halftime, and for a moment his status for the rest of the game seemed to be in doubt, as he was clearly in pain.

But he remained in the game and played brilliantly, going 21 of 27 and throwing three touchdown passes while avoiding any interceptions.

The most enduring memory from the contest will likely be his 26-yard run in a third-down situation with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter to keep Kansas City’s offensive drive alive and set up the game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker.

Mahomes’ performance will go down as one of the most legendary and inspiring ones in Super Bowl history because he got the job done on one good leg.

Before turning 28 years of age, he is the owner of two Vince Lombardi Trophies, two regular season MVP awards and two Super Bowl MVPs.

Neither Joe Montana nor Tom Brady were able to say that at the same age, and it means that Mahomes is on his way to joining them in the highest pantheon of NFL greatness.
