The Philadelphia Eagles have made a huge move ahead of next week’s NFL Draft.
After an incredible season for quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles rewarded him with a massive five-year, $255 million extension.
Hurts is now the highest-paid player in NFL history and is set to make $51 million per year.
While some may think this is an overpay, this is the going rate for a franchise quarterback.
Stephen A. Smith had strong words to say about this new deal for Hurts,
“He deserves every penny. He’s earned it. Not just because of his exceptional play from him on the field, but his leadership from him as well. ”

When deciding on whether to sign a quarterback, everything has to be factored into the equation.
Hurts answered most of the questions about him last year except one.
That is, will he be able to within being a running quarterback in the NFL?
Many great dual-threat quarterbacks have cut their careers short due to injuries.
For instance, Cam Newton was an elite dual-threat player and even won a league MVP.
But all the hits he took adding up and his play started to decline.
The same thing is starting to happen with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
His legs are such a big part of his game that he gets hurt quite often.
Jackson has played in exactly 12 games each of the past two seasons.
Hurts was forced to miss two games last year with a shoulder injury that he sustained while running.
It might be best for his long-term outlook if the Eagles try and get Hurts to play from the pocket more often.
Even though that would make him less dangerous, at least it should help him remain healthy.
