The Carolina Panthers are looking more like a team destined to compete for a high draft pick as opposed to a playoff appearance.
However, one key player is currently leading the league in time to throw, edging out the likes of NFL greats like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
That player is PJ Walker, who is averaging the quickest average time to throw at just 2.38 seconds.
By contrast, Brady is sitting at 2.42 seconds, and Rodgers, at 2.52.

Walker enjoyed an impressive outing during the COVID-shortened XFL season and earned a contract with the Panthers, where he has been a backup and spot starter ever since.
While he struggled in 2020 and 2021 despite his 2-0 record, Walker has been arguably the best quarterback on Carolina’s roster this season.
In three starts, he has a respectable 93.4 quarterback rating, a 62.5% completion percentage, three touchdowns, and an interception.
Walker May Remain Carolina’s Starter
With interim head coach Steve Wilks basically auditioning for the head coaching job with the Panthers, he will likely remain with Walker for the remainder of the season assuming the quarterback keeps up his solid performances.
The Panthers originally went with former first overall pick Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback, but an injury has since sidelined him.

Mayfield was also getting sacked 8.9% of the time, as opposed to Walker going down just 7% of the time.
Surely, the current incumbent starter in Carolina’s speed in getting rid of the football has contributed to both his success, and his ability to keep his uniform clean.
It remains to be seen if Walker is able to keep up his pace.
