The Baltimore Ravens recently placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson.

This came on the heels of the two parties being unable to agree on a long-term contract extension, something that was in the works for over a year.

Now, Jackson has an opportunity to sign a deal with another team if they show interest in signing him.

If this happened, Jackson would make NFL history, as Adam Schefter highlights in a recent Tweet.

According to Schefter, no quarterback in history has been given the non-exclusive franchise tag for one organization, but turned around and signed a different contract with a new team.

After Jackson was given this tag, many reports surfaced about teams that will not be pursuing him.

The most surprising of these teams were the Atlanta Falcons, who are in desperate need of a new quarterback.

If the season were to begin today, the Falcons’ most likely quarterback would be Desmond Ridder, who started just four games in 2022.

While Ridder entered the draft as a potential first or second-round pick, he ended up being taken in the third round.

For a team like the Falcons, Jackson initially seemed like a no-brainer, especially to many of their fans and NFL media members.

He was the 2019 league MVP and has continued to help the Ravens win football games.

Under Jackson, the Ravens have a record of 45-16 during the regular season.

For whatever reason, he hasn’t drawn initial interest from other suitors.

Will a new team emerge, signing Jackson to a historic contract?
