The National Football League seeks to send a clear message to those players who are still interested in placing bets on NFL games: don’t.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league has now indefinitely suspended three more players for betting on NFL games last season.

Free agent DT Demetrius Taylor, who spent last season with the Detroit Lions, and Indianapolis Colts OLB Rashod Berry and CB Isaiah Rodgers will not be eligible to suit up and take the field for at least one season after the suspension.

The league’s wagering policy clearly prohibits players from placing any type of bet related to the NFL, even if it is on another team’s game or they are not playing.

Staff and players are also prohibited from placing wagers on any sport while on team premises or during team travel in an effort to protect the integrity of the game.

This is not an unprecedented situation by any means.

Former Atlanta Falcons star WR Calvin Ridley also received a one-year suspension without pay and was reinstated after one season.

Ironically, the NFL has now partnered with several sports betting giants, incentivizing fans to try placing bets on just about everything revolving around the league, from the coin toss to game accessories, player and the team.

Of course, that doesn’t mean they want players to join in on the action, as it could create a blatant conflict of interest that would only damage the credibility of the game, so they will seek to continue to set an example for those who dare. to break the rules.
