After six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, the team has released four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook, making him a free agent and a very appealing addition for many teams around the NFL.

With Cook set to hit NFL free agency, there will no doubt be a fair amount of suitors, as he is still in the prime of his career and considered among the best backs in the league today.

Before Cook was released by the Vikings this week, there was a lot of buzz about him landing with the Miami Dolphins in a trade or potentially signing with the team if he was released.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Dolphins tried to trade for Cook but were unsuccessful, and it would make sense for him to sign there now that he’s a free agent via The Pat McAfee Show.

Cook is one of many talented running backs around the NFL that haven’t been valued by their teams even though they continue to produce on the field year after year.

In the modern NFL, teams feel like talented running backs are a dime a dozen and not worth giving lucrative long-term contracts to, no matter what they’ve accomplished with their respective teams.

Cook is the latest example, with the same happening to Josh Jacobs of the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans superstar Derrick Henry.

Even veteran back Ezekiel Elliott was recently sent packing by the Dallas Cowboys after scoring 12 touchdowns during the 2022 campaign.

As for Cook, it may only be a matter of time before he signs with the Dolphins and adds to what is already considered one of the offenses in the league led by Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill.
