The Indianapolis Colts running back situation has been dicey for the 2022 season.
Last year’s top rusher, Jonathan Taylor, hasn’t been healthy for the team this season.
While the Colts were hoping he could shoulder some of the offensive burden, an ankle injury has caused him issues.
However, an NFL insider is giving an update on Taylor’s situation with the Colts.
Ian Rapoport Gives His Insight Into The Taylor Situation
With Taylor missing practice, it clearly has Colts fans worried.
However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport feels Taylor’s missing practice will be normal, as he’s still dealing with an ankle sprain.
It may be this way for some time, as #Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is dealing with the same injury — an ankle sprain. Trying to find the right rhythm during the season. https://t.co/4KrSaH3TMw

It’s clear the Colts need Taylor, as the team is 3-4-1 this season.
But they also can’t risk him damaging his ankle in practice.
This leads Rapoport to say Taylor is “trying to find the right rhythm” with this injury.
He must balance things out, weighing the risk and rewards of joining the Colts’ practice sessions.
However, if he feels there’s an issue with his ankle, why not sit out until he’s 100%?
Colts Need To Give Taylor A Break
While Taylor might want to play, the Colts can’t afford to lose him to a season-ending injury.
By allowing him to miss practice, but still play games, they still put him at risk of further damaging his ankle.
If either side has any doubt that the ankle isn’t 100%, they need to give Taylor a break.
Losing a top-tier running back to a serious injury is far worse than keeping him out for one or two more games.
