During Tom Brady’s reign as the New England Patriots starting quarterback, the team was a near-lock to make the playoffs.

In Brady’s tenure as the starter, the Patriots only missed the playoffs eleven, which happened in 2002.

Without him at the helm, the Patriots have struggled to find an offensive identity and get back to their winning ways.

As NFL analyst Adam Schein has recently illustrated, the 2023 season is imperative to the organization’s future.

“Bill Belichick is on the hot seat, this is not a hot take,” said Schein.

Belichick is commonly touted as one of the league’s best coaches.

However, some are beginning to wonder how much of his success can be attributed to Brady.

Schien went on to say, “The Patriots are one of the worst teams in the AFC, and there’s a very realistic chance that this is going to be an ultimate hot mess.”

If someone were to say this about the Patriots in the early 2000s, it would likely be seen as ridiculous.

However, this could be the new reality for the Patriots, unless the organization makes some dramatic changes moving forward.

While it may seem difficult for some to believe, Schein even asserts that 2023 could be Belichick’s final season with the Patriots.

Mac Jones did lead the Patriots to the playoffs in 2021, but in 2022, they finished with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs.

Shein’s comments indicate that, if this season doesn’t go well for Jones and the Patriots, some major changes will be in order moving forward.
