Not even the most optimistic Seattle Seahawks fan expected them to make the playoffs last season.

The team was set to start a rebuild after parting ways with franchise legend Russell Wilson, and having Geno Smith and Drew Lock as his replacement wasn’t exactly promising.

However, Smith wound up silencing all the doubters and playing like a legit MVP candidate for the first half of the season, earning a very lucrative extension in the off-season.

However, some around the league still think the Seahawks could be looking to get better at that position.

With that in mind, Mike Florio of NBC’s ProFootballTalk reports that they could use their No. 5 pick to land Anthony Richardson in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Richardson was one of the most polarizing prospects in this class month ago, but his performance at his Pro Day and the NFL Scouting Combine were quite impressive.

He has superstar potential with his athleticism, speed, and arm strength, and the Seahawks could afford to have him on the sidelines for a year or two while he learns the ropes of the game and develops.

Richardson is expected to be the third quarterback off the board, with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s CJ Stroud as potential No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively.

So, of course, their chances of getting him will depend on whether the Indianapolis Colts want to get Kentucky’s Will Levis instead of him.

Whatever the case, Smith might be in for some more competition, so let’s see if he can prove the doubters wrong one more time.
