The Kansas City Chiefs got some great news before they take the field on Sunday.

That is their quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named NFL MVP for the second time in his career.

Mahomes won this award in a landslide, receiving 48 of the 50 first-place votes.

His season stats include leading the league in passing yards (5,250) and passing touchdowns (41).

He led the Chiefs to a 14-3 record, and now onto the Super Bowl.

Mahomes is creating an elite resume early on in his career, he already has two MVPS, and now he is looking for two Super Bowls.

Coming into this season, people wondered how Mahomes would fare without wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

But, the departure of Hill had no impact on the play of Mahomes.

He spread the ball around to all of his weapons and did so very efficiently.

Mahomes is an once-in-a-generation player, and he does things on the field that we have never seen before.

Mahomes is the 10th player in NFL history to have won two or more league MVP awards.

Also, there have been only nine players ever to win the MVP and Super Bowl in the same season.

The last time it was done was in 1999 by Kurt Warner.

There is a lot of pressure on Mahomes this Sunday.

He is already 1-1 career in Super Bowls and falling under .500 in the big game would be disappointing.

Some are considering Mahomes the best quarterback they have ever seen.

Well if that’s the case, he can’t afford to lose another Super Bowl.

He is chasing the legacy of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and many others before him.

Winning another Super Bowl before the age of 30 would show how special Mahomes is.
