As Black History Month winds down, it’s still very important to remember the impact that African-Americans have made on society, and even sports.
When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947, it opened the door for several great Black athletes, who certainly made their presence felt in the sports world.
Stars such as Larry Doby, Bob Gibson, Fergie Jenkins, Dwight Gooden, Mookie Wilson, and others have left a lasting impact on the baseball world.
On Sunday, MLB chose to honor several African-American starting pitchers who had exemplary careers.
On Twitter, MLB posted a graphic featuring each African-American starter to have won 20 games in a season.

To nobody’s surprise, Gibson is on the list.
But there are several other starters who were truly dominant during their time in Major League Baseball.
CC Sabathia and Dontrelle Willis are two starters who were virtually unhittable in their primes.
David Price also finds himself on the list.
He was once the ace of the Tampa Bay Rays and was truly one of the most dominant starters in the game.
But you also can’t overlook pitchers such as Jenkins, Gooden, and Dave Stewart.
Each and every one of the starters on this list were truly some of the best pitchers the game has ever seen and have played a key role in terms of the inclusion of Black athletes in professional sports.
And so, with Black History Month winding down, it’s still important to remember what these pitchers were able to accomplish.
