San Francisco Giants starter Logan Webb will stay in the Bay Area for the long-term now.
He’s agreed to pitch for the Giants for the next five years, and he’ll get a nice $90 million contract in return.
Some MLB players prioritize charitable causes and initiatives.
It’s a cool way to give back to the community: there are many people in need of money, food, a roof, counseling, or guidance.
Webb found a way to help a good cause: fentanyl awareness.
His contract is designed to do so.
“Logan Webb’s contract includes nearly half a million in donations to the Giants Community Fund. He said it will be directed toward fentanyl awareness. His cousin de él died from it last year and he has spoken at schools about fentanyl awareness ever since,” Giants insider Alex Pavlovic tweeted.

The use (and abuse) of fentanyl takes thousands of lives every year, and no one is 100 percent safe.
There is even a National Fentanyl Awareness Day, on May 10.
The goal is to unite efforts to increase awareness and decrease demand for fentanyl.
Fentanyl is a highly addictive and dangerous synthetic opioid.
It’s really thoughtful of Webb to use his own personal experience to help others raise awareness about a potential threat in society.
Hopefully the message can reach as many people as possible, and he can be an ambassador for the cause.
On the field, he remains extremely talented even with his current 4.76 ERA in 2023.
The Giants not only extended a great pitcher, but also a good guy.
