Last year, the Denver Broncos were expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender after the team pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire superstar quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson was another veteran superstar who decided to make his way to Denver in an effort to win another title like Peyton Manning did a few years back.
Unfortunately, the 2022 campaign was a disaster for the Broncos as the team finished the season in last place in the AFC West division with only five wins to its credit, which is a massive disappointment.
After an awful season filled with doubt and disappointment, the Broncos have made another drastic change in hopes of turning things around, with the team hiring head coach Sean Payton.
This should be a step in the right direction for Wilson, but it also could result in the team parting ways with him if Payton isn’t satisfied, says ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson.
“I know Sean [Payton] very well and I can guarantee you that if it don’t go the way he wants it to go … there’s going to be some major changes and issues at the QB position in 2024”

After Wilson looked like a completely different player last season in his first year with the Broncos, it remains to be seen if he can return to the Pro-Bowl-caliber form he sustained while with the Seahawks.
Although Wilson took the brunt of the blame for the Broncos’ struggles, it wasn’t all his fault, as the coaching was mediocre at best, and upgrades were needed on both sides of the football.
It’ll be interesting to see if Payton ultimately turns out to be Wilson’s savior or the coach that virtually ends his career as a superstar in the NFL.
