Justin Herbert has been a bright spot for the Los Angeles Chargers since the team drafted him in 2020.
In his three years in the league, Herbert has improved each season, including 2022, when he led the Chargers to the playoffs.
Last season, Herbert’s stats were the best in his young NFL career thus far, including a league-leading category.

Herbert was the first quarterback in nearly 20 years to throw over 4,500 yards in a season while averaging less than 6.5 air yards per attempt.
What does this mean for Herbert and the Chargers moving forward?
For starters, it means that if the Chargers offense changes slightly and Herbert can throw the ball more downfield, the offense could improve mightily.
Herbert has one of the strongest arms in the league, but for whatever reason, he hasn’t been able to showcase that.
This could all change in 2023 under a new offensive coordinator,
Kellen Moore will be leading the Chargers offense next season.
Moore comes to the Chargers from the Dallas Cowboys, where he worked with Dak Prescott.
Last season, Prescott averaged 7.5 air yards per passing attempt under Moore’s offensive scheme.
If Moore can unlock Herbert, even one more air yard per passing attempt could work wonders for the Chargers offense.
Herbert had the second-most passing yards of any quarterback in 2022.
The Chargers are in the AFC West, and while Patrick Mahomes is on the Kansas City Chiefs, Herbert will always be chasing his greatness.
