The Las Vegas Raiders have undergone some drastic changes over the last two years, with many players coming and going and the franchise trying to figure out a winning recipe in their new city.
The most significant changes as of late have been geared toward the quarterback position, with the team releasing longtime starter Derek Carr, who ultimately signed with the New Orleans Saints, and bringing in veteran Jimmy Garoppolo, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers.
The Raiders made many headlines over the past few weeks, with Garoppolo undergoing surgery after signing with the team and, as a result, possibly being unable to suit up for Week 1.
Although it has been all about Garoppolo, and Tom Brady becoming part owner of the team recently, perhaps the real story is how star running back Josh Jacobs hasn’t been taken care of in terms of a new contract.
Jacobs is coming off the best season of his NFL career and is eligible for a contract extension, but the team decided to place a franchise tag on him, which the star running back has yet to sign, and now things have gotten a bit ugly with the following cryptic tweet.

With star running backs around the league not getting paid what they’re worth, with four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook being the latest example, as the Minnesota Vikings just released him, Jacobs’ issues with contract talks come as no surprise.
Although he’s arguably the best offensive weapon on the team outside of perennial All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, he’s not treated like a star player that the team can’t be without, and it’ll be interesting to see if a new deal can come to fruition before the start of training camp.
