It was a wild season for Josh Jacobs and the Las Vegas Raiders.

First, they declined Jacobs’ fifth-year option, leaving the door open to walk away as a free agent.

Then, they even showcased him in the first couple of preseason games, leading to speculation about a potential trade.

But Jacobs played lights out and had one of the best seasons of his career, so even though the team struggled to get much going offensively, it became evident that they could not afford to lose him now.

Fortunately for them, it seems like the bell-cow running back isn’t planning on going anywhere, recently stating that he’s down for the challenge of playing for the Raiders for the remainder of his career:

Of course, that pretty much means the ball is now in the franchise’s court, so it’ll be up to them not to lowball him and make him an offer that’s suited to his contributions.

Jacobs started all 17 games this season and ran 340 times for a league-leading 1,653 yards and 12 scores, averaging a whopping 4.9 rushing yards per attempt.

He also contributed to the passing game with 53 receptions for 400 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per reception and serving as a blocker in most of Derek Carr’s dropbacks.

Jacobs’ name isn’t mentioned often when talking about the league’s best running backs, but he’s run for 1,000+ yards in three of his four seasons in the NFL while adding double-digit touchdowns in two of those campaigns as well.

So, you better get ready to make the man a check, as he’s definitely earned every single penny.
