Jets Insider Highlights The Value Of Randall Cobb

Just days after finally trading for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets have added yet another former Green Bay Packer by signing wide receiver Randall Cobb.

At first glance, it may seem like Cobb won’t make a big impact on the Jets, given that he only had 417 yards and one touchdown last season while starting in just three of his 13 games.

But Jets insider Rich Cimini pointed out how Rodgers posted an unreal QBR when looking for Cobb downfield over the last two seasons.

Continuity and chemistry are very important for a QB and his receivers, and going to a new team, especially after starting for 15 seasons with another one, is a huge and difficult adjustment to make.

But New York has gone to great lengths to try to ease that transition.

In addition to Cobb, they have acquired Allen Lazard, who had become a big part of Green Bay’s passing attack the last couple of years, offensive lineman Billy Turner, and former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The one element the Jets lack is a Davante Adams-type wide receiver, but on the other hand, Rodgers says that reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson reminds him of a little of Adams.

The Jets do have a strong defense, the likes of which the Packers haven’t had since their last Super Bowl campaign in 2010.

Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner took the NFL by storm, while All-Pro first-teamer Quinnen Williams is one of the league’s best defensive tackles.

As a result, the AFC will be even more competitive than it was in 2022.
