The Philadelphia Eagles had a tough time finding their franchise quarterback.
The Carson Wentz debacle was a major disappointment, and not many people trusted Jalen Hurts to thrive as a starter.
But just like he did when he transferred from Alabama to Oklahoma, Hurts took a big leap when given the trust to lead the way, silencing his doubters left and right.
Now, fresh off a trip to the Super Bowl, he’s eligible to sign a contract extension, and whether the Eagles should lock him up for the future is no longer a subject of debate.
If anything, the question that looms around is how much money you are willing to pay him or maybe even how many years you will offer him.
That’s why NFL insider Herm Edwards went as far as to say that the Eagles should not hesitate to sign him to a 10-year contract already, as that has been a formula for success in the league in the past.
“10-year contract,” Edwards said. “10 years, I got my franchise quarterback; I got a shot. Look at the franchises [where] head coach and quarterback have been connected for a decade; look at what they’ve done.”

Edwards also praised Hurts’ character, leadership, and behavior off-the-field, stating that he’s got the whole package an organization would want from its franchise player.
“This young man represents everything you want in your organization as a football player, as your quarterback. Everything,” Edwards added.
Hurts balled out throughout the season and was the leading MVP candidate before suffering a shoulder injury.
He also rose to the occasion in the biggest game, torching the Kansas City Chiefs for four total touchdowns and putting up 35 points on their defense.
So, just like Patrick Mahomes said: If there were any doubters, there shouldn’t be anymore.
Hurts is their guy.
