Ezekiel Elliott’s tenure with the Dallas Cowboys didn’t end the way most people expected.
The team released him to avoid paying him such a steep salary after the final fully-guaranteed year of his contract ran out.
Zeke claimed that he was willing to take a pay cut to stay with the team, yet the Cowboys alleged that they didn’t want to insult him with a low-ball offer.
Still, he hasn’t ruled out a potential return to the team, and neither has Dak Prescott.
In a recent sit-down with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Prescott claimed that he and most of his teammates would welcome him back with open arms in Dallas if it came down to that:
“I know myself, and I can tell you there’s a lot of people not only on the team but the organization that would love that,” Prescott said.

Elliot’s production took a major dip every year since becoming the league’s highest-paid RB.
He lost ground and touches Tony Pollard, who figures to be the team’s primary back, even if Elliott were to return.
There was a time when he was one of the most disruptive offensive forces in the league, but he’s gauged little-to-no interest as a free agent, and some think he doesn’t have that much mileage left on his legs.
Elliott still wants to play, and he was a leader in the locker room even when his production started to fall.
So, if the numbers make sense, and he’s willing to play for whatever the Cowboys can offer him, he might look to prove that he can still be an impactful player in this league, even if it’s in a lesser role.
