The Pittsburgh Steelers made a big gamble when they gave Kenny Pickett the keys to the offense.
He was a controversial prospect coming out of college, but even so, he was still the clear and most obvious choice to start for them.
He didn’t get the nod right away, and there were some growing pains early in his career, but he closed out the season in style and showed some signs of promise.

That’s why Steelers veteran Cam Heyward told John Middlekauff he sees him as a ‘hungry’ quarterback with a very high ceiling, praising the job he’s done so far and how he’s adapted to the new pieces around it.
Pickett also had some solid comebacks last season, closing out the year with an impressive 7-2 record to keep Mike Tomlin’s streak of unlosed seasons alive.
Still, Heyward hopes the team, and Pickett, don’t have to wait until the fourth quarter to show their true colors, citing that they have what it takes to dominate early on.
The Steelers are a question mark again this season.
Their defense will obviously continue to be their calling card, and they will always be a well-trained team while Tomlin is in town.
As for offense, it remains to be seen if Pickett was just a one-year wonder, or a half-year wonder, or if he’s ready to take another leap forward and prove his doubters wrong once and for all.
