Broncos WR Makes His Thoughts Clear About Future In Denver

The Denver Broncos were linked with multiple trades throughout the offseason, mostly involving their wideouts.

Fast forward to today, and it seems like they’re ready to run it back with the same core from last season.

That’s why Courtland Sutton — who was involved in some speculation — wanted to make it clear that he’s looking forward to playing for HC Sean Payton and staying at Mile High for years to come:

“It’s flattering that other teams see me as a guy that can come in and be a guy for them,” Sutton said. “I love that I’m here. This is where, ultimately, you guys know that I want to be at. This is home. I’ve been able to come here and continue to build the thing that we’re aspiring to get to. Coach Payton coming in, bringing the coaches in that he’s brought in, bringing the guys in that he’s brought in. You know, everybody’s bought in and ready to take this thing to the next level.”

Of course, the only reason why the Broncos’ WRs were sought-after commodities is that there’s no shortage of talent at the position.

Even so, their passing game was among the league’s worst last season, and Sutton’s numbers weren’t exactly impressive.

Sutton didn’t develop much chemistry with struggling QB Russell Wilson, hauling in just 64 receptions for 829 yards and two scores, posting a career-low 13.0 yards per catch.

The Broncos finished the season with a 5-12 record and Nathaniel Hackett couldn’t even make it through the whole campaign, getting fired after just 15 games.

They were perhaps the most disappointing team in the league last season, especially considering they signed Wilson to a huge contract extension before he had even played a single game for the organization.

Their offense ranked among the league’s worst in almost every category, and they were far from postseason contention for the better part of the year.

Needless to say, there are more than enough reasons to believe that Sean Payton can bring Russell Wilson and the Broncos’ offense back to life, and Sutton could be primed for a Michael Thomas-kind of role going forward.
