Derek Carr’s shocking decision to sign with the New York Jets raised the alarms in the Big Apple.

Robert Saleh had raved about his visit with Carr, praising him as a man, a leader, and a football player.

Now, they’ll have to turn their attention to Aaron Rodgers, their other potential choice at quarterback.

Notably, it seems like the interest could be mutual, as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently reported that the Packers had given him permission to talk to the Jets.

Rodgers was reportedly the Jets’ top choice before they met with Carr, but the fact that they had to give up a lot to get him made some people wonder whether they would be better off without him.

Even so, there’s no denying that Rodgers would be a significant upgrade over nearly every single quarterback in the league, and the Jets have put together a roster that’s good enough to compete for a Super Bowl right now if they land a top-tier guy at that position.

Jets legend Joe Namath gave Rodgers his blessing to unretire his no. 12 jersey if that was what it took for him to arrive in MetLife Stadium, and he’d have an interesting set of offensive weapons at his disposal.

Then again, Rodgers hasn’t even made a decision about whether he wants to keep playing football, and the word around the league is that the Packers would rather if he didn’t come back.

So, will we see him in the AFC East next season? It sure sounds likely.
