It’s safe to say that Tim Tebow’s NFL career wasn’t exactly successful, and he’s been remembered more as a meme or a joke than a good player.
But there was a time when Tebow was actually one of the best prospects on Earth, and his days with the Florida Gators were legendary.
That’s why even Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce still has a lot of respect for him to this day, seeing firsthand what Tebow was capable of on the field when he was in his prime.
In a recent appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, the legendary TE reflected on the time his Cincinnati Bearcats faced Tebow and the Gators in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.
“They said Tebow couldn’t throw. Well, he threw for, like, 500 yards that day.”

Kelce was in his junior year in college, and it was Tebow’s last college game after an illustrious career.
In particular, Kelce says Tebow threw for about 500 yards that day, despite being told he couldn’t throw anything.
The Gators defeated the Bearcats, 51-24, but Kelce still thinks it was a fun experience facing one of the greatest college football teams of all time.
Tebow would go on to play three seasons in the NFL and was even the last QB selected by the Denver Broncos to win a playoff game for them.
Kelce, on the other hand, ended up becoming one of the best tight ends in the history of the game.
