It’s been quite a while since the last time the San Francisco 49ers won the Super Bowl.
However, when it comes to the best teams in the NFL, they always seem to come out on top.
That’s why NFL analyst Mike Garafolo debated whether they should be considered an elite team in the NFC right now, and came to some interesting conclusions.
In particular, he wasn’t that impressed by Brock Purdy, though he mentions that the team still expects him to be ready for the start of the season and hopes he’ll improve as a passer as well.

However, when it comes to their defense, Garafolo believes there is absolutely no question or doubt about their elite status, as they are too stacked and have too many weapons on that side of the field.
Additionally, Garafolo praised the team for how they were able to replace the DeMeco Ryans with Steve Wilks, citing that his culture change and leadership with the Carolina Panthers should have been more than enough to give him the opportunity to head coach elsewhere.
The Niners have had some of the best defensive coordinators in the league for years, with the Ryans taking over for Robert Saleh, and both also getting the nod as head coaches.
There’s no denying that they could go toe to toe with any other team, both in the NFC and AFC, especially with that defense.
At the end of the day, it all could decide if Purdy is as good as they hope and think he is or not.
