Before the New York Jets traded for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson was a marked man in the Big Apple, with fans of the franchise disgusted with how he played during the 2022 NFL season.
Even though the team used a high draft pick on Wilson, the media and avid fan base of the storied franchise seemed to think it was already time to move on from the 23-year-old, as he showed no signs of improvement and began to look like a bust last season.
However, before Rodgers ended up in New York, Wilson promised to make the life of whatever veteran quarterback ended up with the team a living hell in training camp, as he would be stepping up his game and proving to the team why they drafted him with a first-round pick.
Wilson didn’t expect to be talking about a four-time NFL MVP, as it seemed more likely Derek Carr or a different veteran would be headed to New York during the offseason.
This week, Wilson finally shared his reaction to the Jets trading for Rodgers via SNY Jets.
“Of course I would like to be the guy. At first, you’re not always happy about that. But I’m extremely psyched that out of any QB we could’ve brought in, it was him.”

Although Rodgers is the player the Jets want under center for the next few years, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he’s lost a step or two, like Russell Wilson showed last season with the Denver Broncos.
That said, Wilson may have a shot to reclaim his job as the starter in New York and will need to stay ready in the event that Rodgers doesn’t have it anymore and needs to be replaced this season or the next.
