The Arizona Cardinals made a shocking move this week by choosing to part ways with superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins after failing to trade him.

Over the past few months, Hopkins’ future has been up in the air as it became abundantly clear that the Cardinals nor the five-time All-Pro wanted to continue their relationship.

With Hopkins now an NFL free agent, the plot thickens in terms of where the superstar wideout will end up, with plenty of potential landing spots for the 30-year-old.

Interestingly enough, before the Cardinals ultimately released Hopkins earlier this week, the struggling NFL franchise had been in trade talks with Super Bowl title contenders in the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network’s Albert Breer.

The addition of Hopkins would be huge for both of these title contenders, and perhaps what is needed to tilt the scales in order to become the favorite to win it all in 2023.

The Chiefs might need Hopkins more than the Bills, considering they lost both Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster in NFL free agency after winning the title back in February.

It’d be safe to assume that Hopkins won’t be a free agent for long, with plenty of teams likely reaching out to the veteran wide receiver.

A one-year deal for Hopkins might get it done, so he can join a contender and prove his worth to a long-term team, but it’s also not beyond the realm of a possibility that he signs a long-term deal before next season .
