Sauce Gardner had a successful rookie campaign for the New York Jets in 2022, winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Gardner was a highly-regarded cornerback prospect, who lived up to his potential last year.
As he is looking ahead to the 2023 season, Gardner recently announced that his sights set on the league MVP.
After he initially made these comments, Gardner has now come back, recognizing the difficulty for him to win that award.
I know its a 0.00000000000.1% chance of that happening (prolly missed some zeros), but imma reach for the stars everytime💯 https://t.co/IZtJ2Myobj

Despite being available to all players across the league, the MVP award has traditionally gone to offensive players, notably, quarterbacks.
The last defensive player to win league MVP was Lawrence Taylor, due to his efforts during the 1986 NFL season.
Taylor was the second defensive player of all time to win this award, the first being Alan Page in 1971.
The Defensive Player of the Year award is highly coveted, but the MVP is the crown jewel.
Gardner has expressed extreme confidence in himself and in his ability to succeed moving forward in the league.
While the league MVP award is difficult to attain as a defensive player, Gardner believes that it is within reach for him.
The Jets are slated to look significantly different in 2023, especially if Aaron Rodgers is at the helm.
With a defense that was one of the league’s best in 2022, Gardner and the rest of his teammates appear ready to make an incredible impact, potentially shaking up the power rankings within the division.
Will the Jets be able to break their 12-season playoff drought in 2023?
