It’s been a weird couple of days for the Cleveland Browns and CB Greg Newsome II.
First, the news broke of an alleged trade request shortly after hiring a new agency.
Then, NFL insider Adam Schefter shut down that narrative and made it clear that both parties are actually content with each other.
More than that, Schefter reported that Newsome would be in attendance on Monday for the beginning of the franchise’s offseason program, which all but makes it even clearer that he has no intention to be traded whatsoever.

Schefter also stated that his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, made it clear that Newsome is more than happy with the organization and is looking forward to playing for Jim Schwartz next season.
The speculation about his discontent grew due to Martin Emerson Jr. taking care of the outside in his rookie season, so Newsome had to play a bit out of position in Joe Wood’s defense.
Now, new DC Jim Schwartz will have the decision to make regarding Newsome’s position and role in his new-look defense.
Needless to say, playing inside could a toll on Newsome’s market value, so it’s only natural to think he could be frustrated with his role.
So, for the time being, it seems like it’s all good in Cleveland and there’s no sign of the team even thinking of letting go of their talented CB.
But hey, we’ve seen crazier things happen in this league, so it seems like one can never know for sure.
