The Baltimore Ravens continue to be one of the most discussed teams during the NFL offseason.

Lamar Jackson still hasn’t been signed to a long-term contract, and the team seems comfortable with him playing on the franchise tag.

Recently, the team has announced that they will bring Anthony Richardson in for a visit, which has raised eyebrows across the league.

In a segment on Good Morning Football, Peter Schrager provided insight into what this could mean for the team moving forward.

“You only get 30 hits, so you don’t meet with a quarterback if you have one in your security, the Ravens have a lot of needs other than quarterback,” said Schrager.

Richardson has been identified as a top quarterback prospect in this draft, alongside CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, and Will Levis.

Due to their success in the 2022 season, the Ravens’ first pick in the upcoming draft is 22nd overall.

If the team believes that Richardson could be an impactful player on their roster, they might need to move up to draft him.

Bringing Richardson into their building could just be an opportunity to gain more information on a top prospect.

In this appearance on Good Morning Football, however, Schrager indicates that this meeting could mean something more.

“This statement to Lamar (Jackson), saying, hey, we need to start thinking about contingency plans as well,” said Schrager.

If the Ravens are truly ready to move on from Jackson after the 2023 season, Richardson is a logical draft pick for them.

He could learn an NFL system for one season, sitting behind Jackson, and take over in 2024.

Whether the Ravens will draft Richardson remains to be seen.

If Schrager’s comments are any indication, this could be a sign of what’s to come in the next stage of the Jackson saga.
